Treatment

Fraxel

Fraxel is a laser used to treat damaged and aging skin by harmlessly penetrating the outer layer of the skin, resurfacing 15-20% of the epidermis during each session.  This method of treatment alows the skin to endure minimal  damage during each session, and eliminates the downtime associated with the CO2 and Erbium lasers.

Fraxel is FDA-approved for skin resurfacing prodedures;  the photocoagulation of age spots, sun spots, and melasma; and the treatment of peorbital wrinkles.  It can decrease the appearance of fine lines, decrease unwanted pigmentation (sun and age spots and freckles), improve acne and other scars, reduce pore sizes, and create an overall significant and very pleasant improvement of the complexion.  While the most popular areas are the face, neck, chest, and hands, the Fraxel laser treatments  can be applied to the skin of all parts of the body.

Full Treatment

For a full-face treatment, the procedure takes about 30 minutes.  To provide comfort during the procedure, a topical anesthetic is applied prior to the treament, and can be augmented with pain medication if necessary.  The day following the laser procedure, patients can apply make-up and men can continue shaving as needed.  Redness similar to sunburn and slight swelling will occur for the 2 to 3 days following the treatment, but most patients can return to work the next day with ease.  The greatest benefits is achieved with 4 to 5 treatments spaced 2 weeks apart.  Optimal improvement is usually visible in about two or three months.
